Master service agreementsTurn one-off gigs into steady accounts.
A master service agreement (MSA) lets a commercial client sign once and keep reordering under the same terms, so every new job doesn't start from scratch.
Two documents, two jobs
The MSA covers the relationship. Each work order covers one job.
Master service agreement
The standard terms for everything you'll do for this client:
- Payment terms and invoicing
- Insurance and liability
- Access, safety, and conduct on site
- How either side can end the agreement
Work order
A short document under the MSA for each new piece of work:
- What will be done, and where
- Dates or how often (weekly, monthly)
- Price for this job
- Any special instructions
Examples
Illustrations of how an MSA might be used, not real clients.
Office cleaning
A dental office signs the MSA after a one-time deep clean, then adds a weekly evening clean as a work order.
Security patrol
A property manager signs once, then orders extra weekend patrols for each building as needed.
Tree trimming
An HOA signs once, and each season's trim is its own short work order.
Why it helps
- For the client: less paperwork and approval every time they need you.
- For you: repeat work you can plan around, and clear terms if something goes wrong.
Contract templates are a starting point, not legal advice. Have a licensed attorney in your state review any agreement before you use it.
